Sustainability Commtiment

When starting out CXN ART, I wanted to create art to warm people's heart AND commit to environmental sustainability (an ongoing process). I realize that as a small business owner and artist, my creations have an impact on the environment through the materials and packaging that I use. Therefore, I am committed to minimizing CXN ART's environmental impact by intentionally sourcing high-quality, long-lasting materials for my artwork and being selective about the packaging materials that I incorporate into my business.

Currently all of my art products are manufactured in the United States of America since I currently reside in the USA to reduce carbon emissions.

The majority of the packaging materials I use are recyclable, biodegradable, and/or compostable. Check out what packaging materials I use below!

Eco Clear Bags

  • Commercially Compostable
  • Made with PLA (Poly Lactic Acid obtained from plants), so it’s a great alternative to traditional plastic packaging
  • I use these to enclose my doodles, stickers, art prints, and greeting cards. There’s a variety of sizes and styles available on the Clear Bags site.

Reused Boxes + Materials

  • I save boxes + chipboard from my own past shopping experiences (you might see snackbox parts used to safely package more fragile items like stickers and art prints). Since I outsource, I reuse packaging I have been sent :)
  • I use these to pack wholesale and larger orders!

Grounded Packaging

  • Home Compostable, Industrial Compostable, Kerbside Recyclable
  • Made post-consumer recycled paper and is FSC certified
  • I used to use these for my non-flat items like t-shirts, sticky notes, and larger orders!

Kraft Envelopes (you can get at local craft store)

  • 100% compostable and biodegradable
  • Material is brown kraft paper made out of wood pulp that is created without chemical bleaching or dye
  • I use these for flat items like stickers and art prints!

Plantable Hang Tags from Earthly Goods

  • Please plant these hang tags! They will grow into flowers :~)
  • Made with 100% post-consumer recycled white seed paper embedded with wildflower seed mix
  • I use these for my t-shirts and tote bags

Poly Mailers

  • I purchased these teal poly mailers when I first started out my business, and they are made out of plastic that is recycleable (not ideal, but since I still have them I'll use them). I would recommend compostable poly mailers instead!
  • I use these to ship out large t-shirt and tote bag orders

It's not perfect, but we're starting somewhere! I know for some folks there can be a lot of value placed on cute and aesthetic packaging, and I think your experience as a customer is important! I try my best to balance aesthetics with an emphasis on sustainability (maybe not always sexy, but I do care about this earth and I'd still like to create art and share it with others!) I invite feedback, feel free to reach out to me if you have suggestions for more environmentally friendly/conscious products and/or sustainable practices to incorporate into my business that I may not have considered!

Thank you for taking the time to read :)
